Install Instructions:
drop the addon into your XSI window like any other add on.
The Character SDK, which includes the auto rigging systems, is great. However the resulting rigs tend to have bugs, problems, annoying design choices, etc that need to be fixed by riggers, often. My "FIE Rig Fixes" addon tries to boil down a lot of these post rig generation changes to simple commands and buttons, to keep the workload down.
you will find a new toolbar called "FIE Rig Fixes" under Application->Toolbars. Open it and keep it handy.
Create your biped, quadruped, or biped dog leg rig, as usual with the character SDK.
BEFORE YOU RENAME THE MODEL, click on the appropriate button on the toolbar for your rig type.
A dialogue for creating a new action clip will open. This is your new default pose clip. The old DefaultPose has been deleted. I recommend naming this clip "DefaultPose" therefore.
You are done. The rig is now fixed to work with mixer based pose offsets.
The top level controls (usually the feet and the top level pelvis controller) no longer "zero out" to their default positions. This is because the neutral pose has been removed on them. The pose offset tools require this of top level controls. Sorry. Thems the breaks. If you need to reset your rig, apply the DefaultPose instead. Thats what its there for.
